## Overview

VoxaTV is an IPTV and media player for live TV, movies, TV shows and video on demand. Add your own M3U or M3U8 playlist or Xtream Codes provider, choose what to watch and use Settings to manage your playlists, library and playback preferences.

**Bring your own content.** VoxaTV does not include channels, movies or TV shows, and does not sell playlists or IPTV subscriptions. You need your own source and permission to access the content you stream. Premium unlocks app features; it does not provide content.

## Profiles & locks

Open **Settings → Profiles** to manage personal profiles. Each profile has its own playlists, Favorites, watch history, saved positions and preferences. Free uses the default profile, initially named Me. Premium lets you add, use and arrange up to six profiles in total, including the default profile, with a name and avatar for each.

With Premium, set an optional profile PIN. Supported iPhone, iPad and Mac devices can also use Face ID or Touch ID after you enable it for that profile on that device; PIN entry remains available as a fallback. Apple TV uses PIN entry. A protected profile requires authentication before entry, and changing its content-filter or hidden-category settings requires fresh authentication.

Use the current-profile control to switch profiles. Switching ends the outgoing playback session and opens the selected profile’s library. Auto-login is on by default when no saved choice exists. With Premium, it opens the last-used unlocked profile directly when enabled; protected profiles still require authentication.

If Premium ends, the app returns to the default profile and retains additional profiles and their data for future use. Existing PIN locks remain enforced. Premium is required to use additional profiles or set or change locks again.

## Playlists & providers

Open **Settings → Playlists → Add playlist** to get started. Give each playlist a name so it is easy to recognize.

- **M3U:** add a playlist URL on any supported device, or import a local `.m3u` or `.m3u8` file on Mac, iPhone or iPad. Apple TV does not offer a local file picker.

- **Xtream Codes:** enter the server address, username and password supplied by your provider.

- **Active playlist:** browse and search one source at a time. Switch the active playlist in Settings.

- **Refresh:** update the imported catalogue when your provider changes its content. Playlist refresh settings offer Auto-refresh and separate catalogue and programme-guide intervals. Automatic checks service the active playlist while VoxaTV is open; manual refresh is also available.

- **Expiry:** supported providers can report an expiry date and connection usage. Add a manual expiry date when your provider does not supply one. VoxaTV shows approaching or expired dates; reported connection usage reflects the last refresh and can change.

Follow the [M3U player setup guide](https://voxatv.app/m3u-player/) for playlist URLs, local files and XMLTV, or the [Xtream Codes player setup guide](https://voxatv.app/xtream-codes-player/) for server and account details.

Free includes one saved playlist. Premium lets you save multiple playlists. Available channels, stream quality, artwork, categories and provider connection limits depend on your source.

With Premium and another profile available, use a playlist’s **Share** action to select one recipient profile and confirm **Copy playlist**. This copies the configuration, including server or playlist URL, username, password and any imported M3U original. Each profile manages its copy independently; Favorites, history, saved positions, category organization, preferences and downloaded catalogues are not copied, and the recipient’s active playlist stays unchanged.

## Live TV & guide

Open Live TV to browse All Channels or choose a provider category. Search for a channel, open its programme guide or use the player’s Channels panel while watching. Previous and Next move through the current channel list, including your Favorites order when browsing Favorites.

The guide shows available programme information from your source. Schedules may be missing or incomplete if your playlist does not supply guide data. Supported Xtream Codes sources can also provide guide information for the selected channel.

Xtream Codes playlists offer Auto, HLS and MPEG-TS live formats. You can also set a format for an individual channel from the local player’s More menu. Changing that channel’s format restarts its playback.

## Movies & TV shows

Explore Movies and TV Shows through discovery sections, provider categories and search. Recently added uses the dates supplied by supported providers. Open a poster to read its details before choosing Play or Continue.

Details can include artwork, a description, cast, release information, similar titles and a trailer when available. Trailers open externally; Apple TV can show a QR code when a link cannot open in an app.

Structured shows have seasons and episode cards. Choose an episode to watch, restart an episode or mark it complete. Unwatch removes that episode’s recorded history and saved position without clearing other episodes.

Seasons and episodes require structured source data. VoxaTV does not build a show hierarchy by guessing from ordinary M3U titles.

## Playback controls

Use play, pause, stop and fullscreen controls, and seek in supported on-demand streams. Choose available audio and subtitle tracks from the player. Track choices and seeking support depend on the stream and playback engine.

Playback settings include engine selection, buffering and preferred bitrate options. iPhone and iPad support Picture in Picture and background playback with supported media.

**Audio sync** lets you move audio earlier or later, or reset the adjustment, during local KSPlayer playback once audio is ready. It is not available with AVPlayer or while another device owns playback; adjust audio on the receiving device when applicable.

If a movie, episode or standalone video fails or stalls, VoxaTV attempts up to three automatic retries before offering manual **Retry**. Recovery retains the playback position and current playback settings, but can still fail if the stream cannot reopen or seek. Stable playback restores the retry allowance, and an explicit Retry starts a fresh allowance. Live TV keeps attempting to reconnect while playback remains active. Pause or Stop cancels pending automatic recovery.

For structured TV shows, a five-second Up next countdown can start the next episode after the current one finishes. Turn autoplay off in Playback settings if you prefer to choose each episode yourself. On iPhone and iPad, the Up next surface appears in fullscreen playback.

A playback error does not count as finishing a movie or episode and does not trigger next-episode autoplay.

## Continue Watching & history

Movies and TV Shows have a Continue Watching section with unfinished items first, followed by completed watches. Episodes are grouped under their show. Open a card to view details; opening it does not start playback.

Premium lets you continue a movie or episode from a saved position. Watching from the start remains available on Free. After an episode is completed, the show’s main Continue action moves to the next available episode. Earlier unfinished episodes keep their own saved positions.

You can also add a movie or show to watching before starting it. It appears as Not started. This action requires Premium and follows your history and content-filter settings.

- **Remove from watching:** removing a movie or grouped show from the watching list clears its history, saved positions and Not started entry. For a grouped show, this includes its episodes.

- **Remove a specific Continue target:** a Remove action for an individual continuation clears that target and its saved position, including an offered next episode that has not started. It preserves other episodes’ positions and does not clear the show’s full history. Action labels vary by device and surface.

- **Clear completed:** remove completed movie and show history across the current profile’s playlists while keeping unfinished positions and Not started items. Shows retain their next-episode ordering, so clearing completed history does not send Continue back to an earlier episode. This ordering is retained separately from visible watch history.

- **History settings:** control recording separately for Live TV, Movies and Shows, and confirm before clearing a type’s history across the current profile’s playlists.

With iCloud Sync enabled, supported history, completion status, saved positions and recording choices sync between your devices. Explicit history removals and clears also sync. Clearing VoxaTV history does not delete history already sent to Trakt.

## Favorites & categories

With Premium, save favorite channels, movies and shows separately for each profile and playlist. Use Arrange Favorites to put them in your preferred order. Live TV channel navigation follows that order when you are watching from Favorites.

Pin provider categories for easier access. Apple TV also supports separate category favorites for Movies and TV Shows discovery. Category organization does not change your provider’s categories.

Open **Settings → Content → Manage categories** to hide or unhide categories with Premium. For the active playlist, choose the media type you want to organize, then select categories. Hidden categories and their titles stay out of browsing, Search All and suggestions. Choices are separate for each profile, playlist and media type, and sync with iCloud when enabled. A PIN-protected profile requires fresh PIN or enabled biometric authentication to manage hidden categories.

If Premium ends, saved Favorites and organization are retained. Premium access is required to use the gated features again.

## iCloud Sync

iCloud Sync uses your private iCloud database to share supported app data between devices using the same Apple Account. It is on by default for new installations in supported builds and can be turned off in Settings.

Profile names, avatars, order and PIN locks can sync across your devices. Each profile’s library stays separate: supported shared data includes saved playlists and connection details, imported M3U files, Favorites and their order, category pins, hidden categories, supported preferences, watch history and saved playback positions. Catalogue content, artwork and programme guides are loaded separately from your provider.

Updates depend on iCloud availability and network access. Keep VoxaTV updated on each device. Synced progress updates your library without seeking or changing an already playing video. Starting a video from a synced saved position still requires Premium.

Content-filter choices, completed-history display limits and queued Not started items stay local to each profile on that device. Biometric enrollment, Auto-login and the last-used startup profile also stay on the device. The Sync preference is saved separately for each profile on each device. Read the [Privacy Policy](https://voxatv.app/privacy/) for more about stored and shared data.

## Playback on other devices

Premium includes in-app Google Cast and AirPlay video on Mac, iPhone and iPad. Choose a compatible receiver from the player’s options. Availability depends on your network, receiver, playback engine and stream format; some provider streams may not play on a receiver.

Device handover is a separate Premium feature for transferring active playback between trusted VoxaTV devices on the same local network. Both devices need Premium. Handover transfers a playback session; iCloud Sync shares library data and history.

## Trakt

With Premium, connect your Trakt account using an activation code and enable sending from Settings. VoxaTV can send matched movie and episode playback progress and completed watches to Trakt. Review uncertain matches before sending them.

The integration sends activity from VoxaTV to Trakt. It does not import Trakt history or resume positions into VoxaTV. Manually marking an episode complete does not send a watched event to Trakt.

You can pause sending or disconnect. Disconnecting asks you to confirm discarding pending updates on that device. Trakt account access and service availability are required.

## Content filter

Open **Settings → Content** to find Content filter alongside Manage categories. **Filter adult content** is on by default and hides content identified as adult using provider flags or category names. Detection depends on source metadata and may not identify every item.

**Forget adult history** is also on by default. While filtering is on, this choice is disabled and its saved value is preserved. If filtering is turned off and Forget adult history remains on, adult items stay out of discovery and watching sections, and new adult watch history, saved positions and Trakt activity are not recorded.

These settings apply to the current profile’s playlists on this device and do not sync. Changing either setting requires fresh authentication when the profile has a PIN: enabled biometrics can be used on supported iPhone, iPad and Mac devices, with PIN fallback; Apple TV uses PIN. Cancelling authentication keeps the existing choice.

Changing these choices hides existing records where appropriate rather than deleting saved history or Favorites. Enabling filtering does not stop an already playing video.
